All racers MUST be able to load, ride, and unload the chairlift independently!
Membership in the Mount Southington (MTSO) Alpine Race Team includes an unrestricted Season Pass and personal, professional training by our certified coaches. Many racers join the team upon completion of our Intro to Alpine Racing Program.
The MTSO Alpine Race Team experience is designed above all to be fun while helping skiers develop physically, psychologically and socially. Training takes place at the Jerry Donovan Alpine Training Center, which includes advanced electronic timing equipment. Our certified coaches have extensive racing and coaching experience, and a passion for teaching, and encouraging young racers to improve their performance skills.
Each skier is placed in a class based upon age and works closely with their coaches throughout the season, learning both Giant Slalom and Slalom courses. Graduates of The Mount Southington Alpine Race Program are well prepared for future racing competition in high school, college and beyond.
Our first dryland training session is November 22, 2025 here at Mount Southington. The second dryland training is December 6, 2025. Both training sessions run from 10:00AM - 12:00PM. Once the area opens, the athletes hits the slopes every Thursday from 6:30PM - 9:00PM, and Saturday and Sunday from 8:30AM - 1:30PM.
The MTSO Alpine Race Team is affiliated with the USSA Eastern Division and the Connecticut Youth Ski League (CYSL). Our racing parent community is strong and active, bringing their support and enthusiasm to this experience.
