This is the original red barn that was part of the dairy farm that became Mount Southington in 1964. The downstairs of the barn has a recently renovated food service counter as well as the outdoor Café Express window.

Located at the base of Thunderbolt trail, The Mountain Room’s lofted ceilings, immense windows and warm, rustic charm make it the perfect spot for a classic ski resort meal. It also features a walk-up concession area.

That heavenly aroma drawing you toward The Red Barn is coming from the Waffle Haus, located slope side of the iconic red cowshed…and forever in your dreams.

• Hours: 4:00PM to 8:00PM Friday. 11:00PM to 4:00PM weekends.
• Menu: Made-to-order waffles with toppings such as strawberries, chocolate syrup, powdered sugar and whipped cream.

A great spot located adjacent to The Mountain Room Patio featuring a service bar as well as gourmet baked potatoes, mac n' cheese bowls and nachos.
