JUST FOR KIDS - Check back soon for 2020-2021 season information!

We start them young at Mount Southington.  Our children’s lessons and programs are designed for the young skier or rider, ages 4 to 14.

The Glacier Learning Area, home of our Penguins, Snow Foxes and Polar Bears, located next to the Rental Shop and the Mountain Room, is very convenient for moms, pops and kids, and features the Magic Carpet Lift and the Handle Tow.

Our instructors are specially trained to work with young learners.  Each lesson centers on exercises and games that teach skills while providing fun for the youngsters.  At the end of the lesson, parents are given a Progress Card detailing accomplishments and a program to follow to help their children continue to improve.

Get your kids off the couch and onto the slopes.  Get them to Mount Southington for skiing fun out in the winter sun.

Weekend & Holiday Lessons - 2019-2020 season

Younger students from ages 4 to 9 have a dedicated section of our mountain called “The Glacier” which is located just outside our Mountain Room and is home to our popular Penguins, Snow Foxes and Polar Bears lessons which are held each weekend and most holiday periods beginning December 21st. Children learn the fundamentals of skiing while also having fun with other children their age and our friendly and amusing Ski School Staff. The Glacier also has a carpet lift and a handle tow. These lessons are available on a first come first served basis. Sorry, reservations cannot be taken. Please make sure that you arrive here at least one hour before the lesson starts so that you'll have adequate time to buy tickets and fit any ski and snowboard rentals needed.  Please note:  we do not require the use of helmets in these lessons but if you'd like your child to wear one, they can be rented at the time of program purchase.  These Children's Lessons include a lift ticket good until 5 pm for the morning session and 9 pm for the afternoon session.

Wildthings - 2019-2020 season

Note - Please call the office & reserve your spot with a credit card, before emailing or mailing in the paperwork.

Wildthings is a multi-week program (4 or 8 weeks) for children ages 6 to 14 who can already move around the mountain. Our emphasis is on having fun while improving each child’s skiing or riding skills. Wildthings offers your child a chance to ski or snowboard with the same instructor and group for all four or eight sessions, and enables the instructor and child to establish a “skiing/riding partnership” where the instructor can tailor the weekly lessons to the group’s specific needs. Wildthings is offered from 10am–3pm on consecutive Saturdays or Sundays in January and February. This program includes a one hour supervised box lunch.

Please choose the session you would like to sign up for and call us (860.628.0954) to enroll.  Next, print out the Wildthings paperwork (click here), fill out pages 3-7 and send it back to us either through email - [email protected], fax - 860.621.1833, or mail - Mount Southington Ski Area, PO Box 347, Southington, CT, 06489.
