Just for Kids

We start them young at Mount Southington.  Our children’s lessons and programs are designed for the young skier or rider, ages 4 to 14. The Glacier Learning Area, home of our Penguins, Snow Foxes and Polar Bears located next to the Rental Shop and the Alpine Eatery, is very convenient for moms, pops and kids, and features the Magic Carpet Lift and the Handle Tow.

Our instructors are specially trained to work with young learners.  Each lesson centers on exercises and games that teach skills while providing fun for the youngsters.  At the end of the lesson, parents are given a Progress Card detailing accomplishments and a program to follow to help their children continue to improve.

Get your kids off the couch and onto the slopes.  Get them to Mount Southington for skiing fun out in the winter sun.

Weekend & Holiday Lessons

Younger students from ages 4 to 9 have a dedicated section of our mountain called “The Glacier” which is located just outside our Alpine Eatery and is home to our popular Penguins, Snow Foxes and Polar Bears lessons which are held each weekend and most holiday periods beginning December 26th. Children learn the fundamentals of skiing while also having fun with other kids their age and our friendly and amusing Ski School Staff. The Glacier also has a carpet lift and a handle tow. These lessons are available on a first come first served basis. Sorry, reservations cannot be taken. Please make sure that you arrive here at least one hour before the lesson starts so that you'll have adequate time to buy tickets and fit any ski and snowboard rentals needed.  Please note:  we do not require the use of helmets in these lessons nor do we rent them. These Children's Lessons include a Lift Ticket good until 5 pm.
